Giannis Antoniou Antonopoulos

Born in Karytaina, Arcadia, Giannis Antoniou Antonopoulos has been writing since he was a student. His work has been published in books, and from time to time, in newspapers and magazines. He has written poetry, prose, essay, and short stories.

Giannis, as well as, Scobie Demetrios Kostopoulos, another Karytaina historian, have generously granted Karytaina Ancestry permission to copy and translate selections of their works. Both are self-published authors and their older books are rarely available on the used book market.

His book, Φευγάτες Εποχές (Fleeting Seasons), was gifted to Dena Palamedes, by her Uncle Georgios, when she visited him in 2017. He knew she had a passion for family history. Within it’s pages she would find her great-grandfather Georgios Palamidis’s photograph and family stories. When Mary LaViolette and Dena began working together, it was Giannis’s transcription of a list of the Greek Freedom Fighters from Karytaina which began the shell of what is now the Karytaina Village Project Tree on Ancestry.com.
