Karytaina Ancestry Tree

The Karytaina Ancestry Tree is hosted on Ancestry.com. As of January 2025 there are over 9000 individuals on the tree. Living people are not shown on the tree. We chose to use Ancestry for a number of reasons:

  1. The Ancestry tree is always up-to-date.
  2. Ancestry is easy to use, and many of the Karytaina diaspora are already using Ancestry.
  3. Ancestry has some powerful analytical tools when it comes to DNA matching and tree management.

Accessing the Karytaina Ancestry Tree

You do not need to be a paid member of Ancestry to access the “Karytaina Ancestry” tree. You do need to have an Ancestry account, but there are three ways you can see the tree without paying:

  1. Set up a seven day free trial and then cancel it before you are committed. This will allow you to view the tree for a short and intense period. Use the search feature, to search public trees using “Karytaina” in the keyword search field.
  2. Access Ancestry through your public library. Many public libraries have an online institutional Ancestry account. Use the search feature, to search public trees using “Karytaina” in the keyword search field.
  3. Request an invitation to view the tree directly through our Contact page. Please note, Ancestry will encourage you to purchase a membership, this is not required if you have an invitation to view the tree or by using any of these three methods.

DNA Testing

We encourage those who are interested in testing their DNA to do it through AncestryDNA. Many Karytaina descendants are already participating in the DNA component of the Karytaina Ancestry, including some of the oldest villagers. Ancestry offers powerful analytical and matching tools that are linked to “Karytaina Ancestry.” For more precise DNA results, it’s best to first test the oldest members of the family. Kits are frequently on sale around holidays like Christmas, Easter, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day.

Once you have tested on AncestryDNA, you can transfer your results to MyHeritage.com to find other matches. We can assist you with this.
